IIFA 2018 gives us a great reason to plan a Bangkok trip

My most recent International trip took me to Bangkok, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Pattaya. Its just been six weeks and I am itching to go back to Bangkok again. Of course, I am a girl and I love shopping in Thailand. But this time its my love for Bollywood and Indian cinemas which is speaking. For last two years, PENDOWN had won the media accreditation for IIFA but I could not attend due to some or the other reason. This year, I was eagerly waiting for the venue and date announcements to prepare in time. And finally in a press conference on 17th May in Delhi,  they were revealed. Interestingly, 19TH EDITION OF NEXA IIFA AWARDS is taking place in THAILAND from 22nd & 24th June at the reputed Siam Niramit Theatre.

Beat Plastic Pollution

The 19th Edition of IIFA Weekend & Awards 2018 and the United Nations have come together to promote the campaign, “Beat Plastic Pollution”, the theme for World Environment Day, 2018 to combat one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. The message is clear: If you can’t reuse it, refuse it!

The campaign is a clarion call for action for all of us to come together and consider how we can make changes in our everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our natural habitat, our oceans, our wildlife – and our own health.

The goal is to inspire people to search for the kind of solutions that lead to sustainable behavior change upstream. Additionally, the campaign will create momentum to beat plastic pollution and inspire innovators, activists and leaders worldwide to do more than just clean up existing plastics, but also focus our action upstream.

IIFA has always promoted activities that make our world a better place to live in. Since 2007, IIFA has adopted the green carpet as a show of support and to create awareness about environmental concerns. While plastic has many valuable uses, we have become over reliant on single-use or disposable plastic – with severe environmental consequences. Keeping this in mind, IIFA strongly endorses the UN Environment’s campaign call: ‘If you can’t re-use it, refuse it.’

Whose going for it?

I don’t know about others but I am definitely keen to go to live that filmy fever at least once. Thailand looks easy and friendly to me. I bet Bangkok would play a lovely host to a mélange of glitz, glamour and Bollywood’s finest talent, global dignitaries, world media, Indian cinema fans and enthusiasts from across the globe.  The locals also love Hindi movies and film stars and I am sure they would be excited to know that the much anticipated star-studded weekend is returning back to Thailand after 10 years.

My favorites, Kartik Aaryan and the talented Ayushmann Khurrana will be hosting the vibrant IIFA Rocks 2018. The star-studded NEXA IIFA Awards would be hosted by Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh. I see no reason to miss the event. I am definitely looking forward to the approval of media accreditation. The prestigious International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards & Weekend will make for a great weekend as well as a great experience.

IIFA fever is returning to Bangkok, Thailand exactly after a decade!

Siam Niramit is the venue and it is known to be adorned by Thailand’s heritage, art and culture and hosts the country’s most-popular theater production and a must-see show. IIFA is the most appreciated South Asian film academy and a global platform that gives the Indian film fraternity an opportunity to reach audiences in international territories.

I really like how Wizcraft takes IIFA to different countries every year. This fosters relationships as well gives a chance to the fans all over the globe to see their favorites perform live. Wizcraft International promotes the IIFA Weekend & Awards globally, taking the film fraternity to unite and celebrate the best of Indian film and culture, thereby taking Indian Cinema and India to a wider audience.

Khun Pannin, Founder, Siam Niramit said “Indian Cinema has grown continuously over the years to attain its current status as a top player in the world film industry. IIFA has grown with it, producing ever more exceptional events at amazing venues throughout the world. This year, Siam Niramit is honored and delighted to welcome IIFA back to Bangkok as we play host for the second time in 10 years. We are very excited to collaborate with IIFA to bring this extraordinary world event to our country.”

5 Interesting things that can be done in Bangkok!

If you are planning to visit Bangkok for IIFA next month, I will always recommend that you must extend a few days and do more apart from visiting the lovely temples, going for the canal ride, visiting the flower market or losing track of time while shopping.

  • 1. I checked out the 3D Museum, Art in Paradise. If you have an inclination towards art and illusion, this can be one of the places to visit in the city. I found it a cute museum where you can just walk around, get clicked in those 3D styles which bring out the essence of the art work and be a child again. It is where you can loose yourself in the world of creativity, colors, illusion, 3D art and photography. At every step, there stands a photo opportunity.
  • 2. Madame Tussauds – As the name goes, it is the famous wax museum with houses famous personalities statues made from wax. Now Thailand also has one to woo the tourists. It is purely entertaining and makes you admire the
  • 3. Asiatique Night Market – The Ferris wheel is my favorite thing here. I also like visiting this night market for its colorful shops, food trucks, restaurants and interesting Thai knick-knacks. Located on the banks of the Chao Phraya, the major river in Thailand, it makes a great place for evening stroll.
    • 4. Boat tour and Bangkok canals – One can sail down on the Chao Phraya River and see the real Thailand. This is one of the most authentic thing to do in Bangkok. The capital used to be called “the Venice of the East” for exploring its canals.
  • 5. Gorge on the delicious street food of the capital city. Period!

Last year I had traveled to Bangkok with Director, Tourism Authority of Thailand New Delhi Office  Mr.Stapanaseth Isra.

This is what he has to say about the grand event, “IIFA 2018 will prove to be beneficial for the publicity of Thailand’s tourism industry, which will contribute to enhancing the positive image of the country and attract Indian tourists by showcasing a variety of tourism products Thailand has to offer. The event also complies with TAT’s directions to promote Thailand as a preferred destination for Indians.”
