Here Is All About My Gorgeous Trip To Amalfi Coast, Italy

Guest Post, Amalfi trip, Travel

This article has been written by Laxmi Shukla, (my friend and a travel lover) who recently did a 3 week Euro trip. She almost lost her heart at Amalfi Coast.

During our Euro trip, we did not dare miss visiting Amalfi, a UNESCO “World Heritage Site”. This gorgeous, small little town is situated in the province of Salerno, in the Campania. A town which is as tiny as never presumed, as magical as never expected, as beautiful as a fairy-tale. Probably when God was in his artistic mood, he picked up a paintbrush, sat down relaxed and painted dreamy landscape. The moment you see it, you are in love with it. Amalfi became my most favorite destination the moment I landed there and I did not want to return from. I still regret that we had kept only a day and half for it. You should plan for at least 3 days. Take my words Amalfi, oldest of Italy’s four major Maritime Republics will leave you awestruck.

“For the people of Amalfi the day they enter Paradise will be a day much like any other: because for them paradise is already here on earth, right on their doorstep.

Atrani, Amalfi
Atrani is located to the east of Amalfi.

Atrani is a best location to stay!

In our limited time, I wanted to make the most of it and grab as many memories as I could. Our stay was at Atrani. It is located to the east of Amalfi, almost ten minutes drive down the coast. Walking is very convenient provided how much luggage you have. We chose Atrani because of its unique reason. It contributes to the smallest community in all of Italy and looks as good as you are in Greece. We were charmed by both beauty and nature the moment we landed there and were extremely happy with our Airbnb accommodation and the warmth of our host.

The dreamy landscape made us impatient and we were excited to start our day early unlike the lazy mornings in other countries. The best part of Amalfi is that itโ€™s not a big place. One can easily walk from one end to the other in about 20-30 minutes. The town is well organized specially when it comes to people who prefer to walk. There is a separate tunnel based road made only for the pedestrians. This starts in between Amalfi to Atrani and takes us to Almafi in just a few minuets via so many magnificent land marks of this town. No wonder this is one of the most popular and luxurious holiday destination for Britishers.

How to Reach Amalfi?

To reach Amalfi there are only bus and ferry services from Salerno via Minori (a small town in Italy). The trip to Amalfi from Sorrento is approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes (depending on traffic) otherwise this can blow out to two hours. July and August are the two most popular months for tourism. So you must make your arrangements accordingly. The ferry season opens from Easter weekend and runs until mid to late October with connections from Amalfi to Positano, Salerno, Capri, Naples and Sorrento. Headquartered in Naples, the Metro del Mare is an extension of public transport — by sea. It connects the northern ports to Amalfi. A close small town Ravello, 20 Mins away from Amalfi also attracts lots of tourist. It is situated in the hills above Amalfi. The place offers stunning views to the travelers for the gardens it has and also spectacular Duomo, the Cathedral of Ravello.

Amalfi has squares which are connected by pedestrian streets. They are full of restaurants, souvenir shops and tourists. Here, you must try the lemon gelato, Limoncello and lemon sorbet. The 10th century Cathedral situated in the middle of the town is definitely a great tourist attraction. The bell tower of the Cathedral is visible from the harbor. The art lovers can savour the most beautiful European era paintings at ‘The Cloister of Paradise’, situated next to Cathedral. It gets your eye for its columns build in typical Arabic style. I would say it is a must go to learn about the paintings of roman era.

Amalfi Beaches are made beautiful with a wide colorful spread of sunbeds for the convenience of tourist and it definitely attracts a big crowd. Water is deep blue, one of its own kind. It is difficult to take your eyes off the shore. I can still feel the pleasure of those times. Pebbled shore had a different vibe altogether. Amalfi is a perfect amalgamation of nature, deep blue ocean, lush green mountains, colorful houses, beautiful beaches and lots of fun. It is a divine holiday destination and definitely makes for a lifetime experience.
