When Plans Work In Times Of Crisis

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”

– Jane Howard

Yes, we all need a family. As humans we thrive on laughter, joys, love, togetherness and almost everything that makes us feel safe and happy. And if we were asked to name one association that was source of all, for most of us it would be our family. While I was growing up, the idea of living with my parents and siblings was the most comforting feeling. For ever that I have known, whatever I have done and wherever I have traveled, I have always had a family to return to. The sense of belonging-ness to a family is immensely satisfying. I call them family because I know I can be in my own skin when I am with them. My family completes me.

There have been many testing times for my family. I still remember how we all stood together when my father-in-law was ailing in the hospital for like 38 days, last year. All the family members who lived far and near came to our help. And despite of all the stress that my mother-in-law was going through, she never told me, my husband or my sis-in-law to stop doing our jobs. We just made a plan and all took our turns to be at the hospital. During that duration, my sis-in-law handled her interviews and I traveled for a new opportunity but thankfully none in the family raised questions to that. In fact, we had people who would always step in to help us and make up for our absence. Nevertheless, that was my moment of realization that every family can set off on an epic adventure and would do everything to be huddled together. What was a real comfort to my mother-in-law was the savings she and her husband had amassed over the years as well as making smart investments- this greatly reduced the stress of an extremely stressful situation.

When I played this video above, I could totally relate to it. Quite often, we face these situations when too many things happen at the same time. It isn’t easy to balance out emergencies and new opportunities at the same time. But if the family members know how to handle it, they will do it perfectly. We were blessed by the foresight that my in laws experienced during their working years. And though we were always there to help them, they too were comfortable and fearless in facing life’s difficulties because they had planned and saved ahead of time.

  1. You are really lucky to have such a family. Surely, saying #KhudKoKarBuland and moving ahead with head held high is a great way to face up troubles in life.
